2008-05-09 - 9:22 p.m. Absolutely scrumptious! I had a grilled mackerel for supper, with veggies, rice and kim chi. Last week, I discovered this terrific dish when a friend of mine ordered it at the Kim's Club food court. One taste and I was hooked. It's full of Omega 3 and other good nutrients, too. This morning, I went to see my cardiologist for the 2-week follow-up on the tests that I had. The cholesterol is over 200, but 80% of it is is LDL, so that's okay. Triglycerides are also a little high. He wants me to get them down. Basically, I'm in pretty good shape for the shape I'm in. Liver and kidney functions are good enough for a 30-year-old, he said! He says that I don't need to come back for two months, so I gather he thinks I'm doing all right. He gave me a prescription for meds to lower my cholesterol which is good for two months. Holy cow! I took it to the pharmacy and paid the equivalent of U.S. $333.80!! I guess I'd better use my pension to buy medical insurance. At least I'm well-supplied for the nonce. Got a phone call this evening from Honda. He wanted to come over and bring some red kim chi and white kim chi made by Jennifer's Mom, the Kim Chi Queen. She's heading off to Europe for a vacation and wanted to make sure I had some good, nutritious side dishes. She included a new ladle and a lovely pottery bowl in the package, which was wrapped up in a pink rayon cloth with a pretty bow on top. She is a real sweetheart! (Doug, she's the tall, slender lady with the short hair in the photos I sent you.)
