2003-03-07 - 3:16 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2003 What an easy four hours of teaching, at Gina's school. All books are provided and the Korean teachers outlined everything for me. All I had to do was teach the pages they pointed out to me. Kim, the V.P., wanted to know how much I wanted. I said 20,000 won per class, times 12 classes, paid weekly. No problem! Cho says I should have asked more, but I'm satisfied. If it lasts a month, per Kim's estimate, I'll earn close to a million won. Cho called this evening with a referral to a dentist that won't charge me an arm and a leg to do the work that I need. He was "shocked" (his term) at the estimate the dentist in Kangnam gave me for the work, nearly 8 million won. Thank Heaven for good friends! Went down to the grocery store near the Farmers' Market and got onions, yoghurt (a sale,- 3 small containers for 80 cents U.S.), a metal ladle with wooden handle, and tofu. Swung by the hardware store and got 4 cans of stove gas for 2400 won. That's a lot less than the Mini-mart (convenience store) charges. Got my water at MM though; it's shorter to lug it. Gave myself a good scrubbing,- hot water and massage therapy. Relieves stress and feels so good! Then made some "sunchang doenjang" (mugi miso = soybean paste) broth and fried tofu to liven up the toasted brown rice. It was so good that I ate 2 ricebowls-full, about 15 ounces. Thanks for reading. Happy Trails! ~Sil in Corea
