Apology and Update

I just talked to Jim by phone and found out a few things.

I must make an apology for maligning Mihwa. He went to see her this weekend. She had just received the money for his work and already transferred it to his account. It was a company-created snafu, and she had worked to straighten it out. I've edited out the snippy comments I made, but they may still be in the Google archive. {I also fixed some of my typos and HTML goofs.}

When I arose this morning, it was raining very steadily outside. By the time I got to Shingil, the rain had turned to snow! It's been snowing on and off ever since. There's not much accumulation, as we had a thaw over the weekend, enough to warm up the top two inches of the ground, anyway. What is sticking is an icy slush. I'm pussy-footing very carefully on it.

Moms' class went well today. We discussed health, nutrition, trusting or not trusting doctors, and even touched on faith healing.

My supervisor came in and observed the last 15 minutes, then talked to the students about the need for more students to keep the class open. Both students are keen to keep the class going and offered to pay an extra 50,000 won per month / U.S.$40. It's still a bargain at that price; some English teachers are charging that much for one 90-minute class. My gals are getting eight 90-minute classes for that.

Eenjung took me to lunch at a Chinese restaurant. I had sea cucumber for the very first time in my life. It was very good; tender and tasted a little like mushrooms. We feasted to such an extent that I joked that I would probably fall asleep on the subway and miss my station.

I ran into Cho on the shuttle bus and we had a fun chat. He has a great sense of humour and I always enjoy talking to him. We're planning to get together later this week for strategy talks about developing more adult intermediate/advanced English classes.

Needless to say, I did fall asleep on the subway, but I did not miss my stop! Once I got home, I stretched out on my bed and gave my body a chance to digest all that good protein...took a refreshing 90-minute nap.

Jim called just after I woke up. We are going to meet tomorrow at the U.S. Embassy for coffee and a replenishment of my wallet. Great! I was running out of coffee at home, as well as veggies and fruit,- all are major components of my diet.

Therefore, I am in a much better frame of mind tonight.

Thanks for reading.

Happy Trails!
